Margatini {aka The Margarita Martini}

 I love drinking both margaritas and martinis. So… I was really excited one day when my sister passed along a recipe for a margarita martini that she was fond of. I’ve tested this drink recipe on many unsuspecting guests at my house and all have agreed, it’s definitely a keeper.

The key to this cocktail recipe is the gin. Gotta use Tanqueray No. 10 Gin which is made in small batches with grapefruit, orange, lime and chamomile. It has a very nice botanical flavor and it doesn’t mess around with 47.3% alcohol by volume. It’s also the same gin we used in the Clementine Gin Cocktail. You can pick up a bottle at your local BevMo! for about $35.00.

I think I used more than half my bottle of gin on just these cocktails. They are just too good to not drink on Friday nights after a long week. And then again on Saturday nights after long days of shopping.

Oh yeah, back to the cocktail recipe… The Tanq 10 gin is the martini part of the cocktail while the triple sec and fresh squeezed lime are the margarita part of the drink. My husband and I preferred our margartinis with salt while my sister drinks hers without. You can decide for yourself whether to salt the rim or not. Doesn’t really matter to use as long as you enjoy your cocktail.Margatini
