Last year for a St. Patrick’s Day cocktail we shared the Mint Paddy Martini that doubled as a Thin Mint Martini. This year, we are taking the more traditional route and sharing three Guinness cocktails for St. Patrick’s Day.
These Guinness cocktails range in spirits. We have the Black Velvet with Champagne. The Irish Russian with vodka. And the Dog’s Nose with gin. There should be something for everyone to enjoy. If not, maybe you check out the Irish Whiskey St Patrick’s Day Cocktails.
Black Velvet Cocktail
Ingredients
Guinness (or other stout)
Champagne
Preparation
Fill a champagne flute halfway with chilled Guinness. Top with chilled Champagne. If you pour slowly you can get a layered effect.
Black Velvet
Irish Russian Cocktail
Ingredients
1 ounce vodka
1 ounce Kahlua coffee liqueur
Guinness (or other stout)
Optional: splash of Coca-Cola
Preparation
Add vodka and Kahlua to a rocks or pint glass. Top with Guinness. Don’t add ice. Some people also add a splash of Coca-Cola to the Irish Russian Cocktail.
Irish Russian
Dog’s Nose Cocktail
Ingredients
2 ounces Gin
Guinness (or other stout)
Nutmeg
Optional: 2 tsp brown sugar
Preparation
Add gin to a pint glass and top with Guinness. Dust with nutmeg.
If desired, you can add brown sugar to the drink recipe by heating up the Guinness or even making brown sugar simple syrup (equal parts brown sugar/water over stove). Your call on what you like best and how motivated you are at the time of making the drink.
