Vanilla Fig Old Fashioned Cocktail {with fig infused bourbon}

When my husband sits down to drink a cocktail with friends it’s usually an Old Fashioned Cocktail or a Boulevardier. So, when the fig infused bourbon was done infusing, the first fig bourbon cocktail I made with it was a remake of the Old Fashioned.

Since my husband was against me making the fig bourbon in the first place, I figured a remake of a classic would be a good place to start. That way I could convince him this fig bourbon cocktail was something he was already familiar with.

But I had to make the drink for his friend first. Once it passed the friend test, my husband said he would have one. And he enjoyed it. Because I knew he would.

I’m hoping that if you have fig infused bourbon in the works, you are a little more open to figs than my husband is. If not, then you are very daring and that makes me happy.

Anyway, for this fig bourbon cocktail I used brown sugar instead of a sugar cube. For the bitters, I went with homemade vanilla bitters that my mom made for me. You know you have a good mom when she makes you cocktail ingredients. If you don’t want to make homemade bitters, you can buy vanilla bitters.

I really liked the combination of vanilla and fig in the cocktail. Everyone else that tried it liked it too. It’s an easy drink to make although the real time comes in the waiting for the infused bourbon and the bitters (if you make your own).Vanilla Fig Old Fashioned Cocktail {with fig infused bourbon}
